Can't hear sound in mkv file

hi,
I am trying to run a .mkv film and I just can't get the sound to work.
this does work in other plays though.
for referrence the film is
Into.the.Wild.2007.Special.Edition.Bluray.1080p.DTS-HD.x264-Grym

The problem kind of disappeared by itself, so this thread is now irrelevant. I'd be glad if you would adress the second topic I have started.

How do I check if I have the latest drivers then? PS, in the film's description it said the following: "


10 bit encode. You need up to date decoders, like LAV, VLC 2.0 , some builds of mplayer, etc. No external players.

"
Not sure if this helps but I guess it doesn't hurt to throw it out there.

Again, not quite sure if this is the right forum but anyways I was trying to run this film: Red.2010.1080p.BluRay.DTS.x264-ESiR but when I tried doing so using splash my video won't work and instead there was green weird stuff displayed. using VLC or BS Player the video works normally. Cursor won't disappear after pressed play

Hey, I'm not sure if this is the right forum to open this thread, anyways title says it pretty much- I start the movie and no matter how long I wait my cursor won't disappear, I have to move it to the side in order to hide it. is there a soultion for that?
