This happened to me again after 90 minutes of recording and finally completing a mission I had to retry 30 times!!!
I'm seriously about to rage quit this program and use something else.

It seems to happen when recording in Active Screen and doing an Alt+Tab into another application. I was recording some dosbox game and when I Alt+Tabbed to the desktop to check on recording status I noticed it wasn't recording anymore so I freaked out but it stopped recording when I did the Alt+Tab....

This is happening to me as well. Using Active Screen. It looks like it's recording (the counter ticks on) but when you stop the video is just 1sec long and the thumbnail is white with a 'work in progress/loading' circle.

Well, tbh I don't hear any constant beeping. Does this issue occurs with other games?
