When recording desktop, it doesn't really make any difference weather you use QuickSync, AMD APP or MP4 (standard)... The quality is the same and the filesize is most likely also the same... the pull on system ressources for encoding is minimal ... UNLESS !! - you are encoding live video on the desk...
