High CPU usage with AVIVO and CCCP

Sat Mar 13, 2010 12:53 pm

I am using Splash lite 1.3 to play a 1080p h264/AVC clip. On my C2D E6600@stock, 4Gb ram, win7 x64, ati 5850 computer, playback runs smootly no matter what, but as Splash lite does not play all files, and does not allow SPDIF passthrough (this is really the only "pro"-function I miss), I need other players and regular codecs installed as well.

When I install CCCP (ffdshow etc.), CPU usage when playing this clip goes from 3% to 35%. Splash still says AVIVO is used, and demo mode in catalyst allows me to prove that avivo is in fact active. During CCCP installation, I chose not to use FFDshow for h264 and mpeg4. It has no effect changing the order I install CCCP and Splash. Splash still suffers a lot from some of the codecs installed, but I really need most of them.

Any clues?

Any hardware acceleration (no matter DXVA, or AVIVO) won't work proper, if there is an any filter between video and player.
You need to switch off VC-1 and h264 in ffdshow's video codecs preferences.

Return to “Splash Lite (free)”
