Splash WatchTV Crash and Suggestions

Wed Apr 21, 2010 1:41 pm

Hello, I just stumbled onto Splash last night and I already LOVE it. I was using Media Player Classic for everything but it just seems so ancient compared to this. Anyway I was wondering the only version I see is the Lite. Is this the only one still only available? I don't see a way to get the Pro, or HD or TV versions yet.

Anyway when using the LITE, when I click on Watch TV the player automatically crashes. Every single time.
I have in my computer a:
Hauppauge WINTV-HVR-2250 Dual TV Tuner/Encoder Media Center Kit
which is pretty high end common TV Tuner card. Is it supposed to crash since the 'TV' it's not ready yet?

Crash Details from Event Viewer:
Faulting application SplashLite.exe, version 1.3.0.0, time stamp 0x4b88162b, faulting module SplashLite.exe, version 1.3.0.0, time stamp 0x4b88162b, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0001e30b, process id 0x814, application start time 0x01cae152cd245ec9.

System Specs:
Vista 64-bit Business
Intel E8400
8GB RAM
TBs of HD Space
Nvidia 8800GT

I live in Queens, NY.
Thanks and please keep up the great work.
This player is a huge relief and a breath of fresh air to MPC.

Other suggestions:
1. Can you add the option to play a movie in a window'd mode but hide the controls at the bottom?
2. Any way to modify the picture properties like brightness, color, sharpness?
3. I see the GPU button but it's disabled. When does this become enabled?
4. Can you make the window move-able while clicking on the movie playing and dragging it?
5. Can you add the option to be "On Top" while only playing a movie and not Always on top of other windows?

Anyone else who's in the US have this feature working?
If so what TV tuner card are you using?
I'd really like to see how Splash handles TV broadcasts. I don't have a cable service and just get all digital OTA channels off the line coming into my house. Other programs work fine but this instantly just crashes.

Thanks.

Hi,

Hi, thank you very much for a feedback. At the moment only Lite version is available. PRO version is expected to be available in May and after PRO we will release TV version.

Currently Splash Lite supports only DVB-T tv standard, in USA there is unsupported yet ATSC tv and this is probably the reason of the problem with TV tab/option. We are going to work on it after PRO release.

About GPU: your graphics card probably does nto suport full h.264 decoding.
Partial gpu h.264 decoding will be supported in futre Splash release.

Thank you for your suggestions, Most of them are already included in our plans.

Awesome Ghost. Thanks for the reply.
Would be nice if just a pop stated, you are in a non-supported ATSV region. This feature cannot be used instead of it crashing. But oh well. I just won't click on that tab then.
Really looking forward to the versions!! :P

Same for me..

Crashes when clicking on TV or even Settings/Tuner.

I have a CTX SAA7131 Hybrid Analogue / DVB-T card
and a FireDTV DVB-S2 Satellite Decoder.

They both work in other Apps.

Splash WatchTV Crash and Suggestions

Tue Sep 15, 2020 10:42 pm

I thought that by copying the few files installed to the Splash Lite program folder during setup to a USB flash drive I could create a portable version of the player, it seems I can not an error message states that the configuration has changed. I realize that Splash Lite creates files in Application Data and makes registry entries when it is run. I am not concerned with those. I just wanted to be able run SplashLite.exe on any machine, without going through the entire process of installation. Is there some way this can be accomplished? Mirillis, any suggestions?
