SplashLite is a new generation player focused on HD best quality compression standards (like H.264). For backward compatibility uses system codecs to support older lower quality standards (like Xvid). Please ensure you have installed stable Xvid codec in your system.
Please try again one of the previous SplashLite versions to determine if your avi file would be played properly on actual system codecs setup. It would be very helpful feedback.
I didn't re-install an old version, but didn't change any codecs before updating SplashLite. Windows Media Player playback works fine. ISplash crashes at all XviD encoded AVIs. It would even been great if there would be just an error message.

Hello r00ter,

What do you mean by "incompatible"? Is the info panel showing "Not supported" and there is no audio?

Thanks.

Could you please specify what Xvid codec have you installed. Could you also try Xvid video in other containers (like MP4, MOV, MKV) ?
Unfortunately we cannot reproduce the problem in our test labs, your feedback would be very helpful.

Memory usage is a bit high in version 1.2. Is this by design?

Hi reb0rn,

Yes, Subtitles encoding selection will be available in next Splash Lite release (and also some new features).

As for the analog TV cards we are currently not focusing on this as analog terrestial TV is slowly being exchanged to digital.

Best regards.

Hello ethaniel and welcome to our forum,

Splash Lite 1.2 uses ~64MB of memory when using GPU accelerated decoding and ~192MB of memory in SW mode (Full HD 1080p/1080i video). As this is not influencing power consumption and is not a high number for modern (even 3+ year old) computers we are not focusing on reducing this number. This is also related with our design and future advanced post-processing algorithms like Motion².

PS. If you see some cases in which this numbers are much greater then please let us know as this would indicate some problem on our side.

Thank you.

Greetings to everyone.

Very nice web and player design. Small and compact. It looks really good.

Below are my suggestion of the improvements to consider:

1. Playlist docking to main player window.
2. An option (maybe in EcoMode menu) which define what player do when finished play of the movie.
for example: A. Close player; B. Shutdown Computer; C. Suspend
the last two options with countdown and cancel button.
3. Information screen: CPU load; current/total_frames and option to show more or basic informations.
4. Subtitles: An option for subtitles without end time to be display with spec time
for example: (time in ms [set by user]) x (each char in current sub line)
as example for "Hello!" word would be 250ms x 6chars so this line will be displayed for 1.5s

problems:

Unable to play wmv movies from link below. There are a lot of VC-1 clips.
Apple H.264 trailers are played without any problems.
