subtitles options greyed out

Wed Aug 17, 2011 7:26 pm

Hi team,

The splash player comes highly recommended and it's one of the few players that can play HD video on my DM1z :-)
I have a problem with subtitles though.

When I'm playing a movie - I cannot choose the subtitles to load - the entire subtitles menu point is greyed out. I've tried with both the lite and the Pro version - and it is the same.

I start the video clip - and then I right click to choose the subtitles - but I cannot choose that option.

Am I doing something wrong - or is there some sort of limitation to type of video or what is this?

cheers

I guess the format of subtitles is not supported yet.
Splash does not support all subtitles formats yet, and Splash Lite has some feature limitations including no support for PGS subtitles. Do you know what subtitles format is it in your video file?

Well - the format of the subtitles does not even come into play - they are not embedded in the video file.

I play the video file and then I want to load the subtitles that I have in a separate file - but I can't seem to find out how to load them. My guess was that rightclicking and choosing subtitels track - but judging from your reply that is only for embedded subtitles?

I'm trying to load .srt subtitle files - I even tried renaming them to the same name as the video file - as that normally triggers autoload in VLC

Cheers

ah - it took me a while to figure out - I don't know how i overlooked the big "subtitles" button in the top menu - other than I haven't used the menu at all and didn't expect having to go that way to find it.
From other players I'm used to being able to load subtitles from the right-click menu - and that is not the case here.
A simple mistake on my part

thank you for keeping this thread updated.
You can also use drag and drop to load subtitle file to Splash.
