Selecting options on Vista64 SP1 causes crash

Mon Dec 21, 2009 8:49 am

I have Splash Lite installed on 32 bit Windows Seven - no issues I'm aware of.

But on Vista Home Premium SP1 64 bit, as soon as I select Options whether from the toolbar or via the context menu, instant crash. I can open Options and choose settings on Windows Seven 32 bit with no problem.

The Vista64 machine is HP Pavilion m9515y with Phenom X4 9850 and Nvidia GeForce 9600 GS. MKV and MP4 files play fine. But if I select Options, I get the Vista "the application has stopped working" dialog instantly. If I'm lucky maybe this bug is already fixed in the version due out soon. I like the player.

Hi MilesAhead, welcome to our forum.
We have noticed that your PC includes PCI TV Tuner. We probably do not support this tuner model and we crash on tuner initialization.

This will be fixed soon - it will be possible to open Settings window.

At the moment probably the only solution to open Settings window is to temporary disable TV Tuner in Windows Device Manager.

We are sorry for this inconvenience. We will update this topic as soon as the problem will be fixed.

I downloaded Splash Lite 1.1 and reenabled the TV card. So far I can go into options with no side-effects.
Seems to be fixed at least on my PC.

Splash Lite 1.2 should improve tuner initialization stability.
Could you please check what is your TV tuner model?

Device Manager shows:

Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1290
(Model 85xxx Combo ATSC/QAM, SW Encode)

At present I don't use the TV card. But I do notice now that if I even click
on the Watch TV Button in Splash Lite 1.2, the program crashes with the
"Splash Lite has stopped working" dialog.

I can however, click Options without the crash.

Here's the rest of my system specs:

HP Pavilion Desktop
Phenom X4 9850
8 GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GS
750 GB SATA 3G
LG GBC-H20L DVD burner
64 bit Vista Home Premium SP1

Thanks for detailed feedback!
We will try to make some more improvements soon for tuner initializations to avoid this problem with unsupported ATSC tuners.
