Audio Disappears halfway through Video

I use Splash Player Lite 1.1 on an HP dv2 (Single Core AMD Neo-MV40 1.6GHz, Mobile Radeon HD 3410, Windows 7 64-Bit) to watch recorded HD TV. The files are encoded as AVC H.264 files and they play great on the little notebook.

The problem I encountered is that after a while (always somewhere short of the middle of the video) the audio disappears, and towards the end the video just stops playing. This happens with GPU acceleration (which works fantastic otherwise) turned on or off.

The same video files play fine using the Windows Media Player; although the CPU is to weak to decode the video smoothly.

Has anyone else encountered this? It happened in version 1.0.5 and still in version 1.1.

Thanks!!

Hello ajsenf!

Thank you for your valuable feedback. This seems to be a major problem you are describing here and we want to fix this ASAP. Could you please describe with what kind of files does this problem occur (MP4, MOV, M2TS, MKV etc.)?

Best regards.

Thank you for your response!

The video files have the extension "mp4". I used the WinX HD Video Converter to convert them from the "mpg" files written by my TV tuner. I converted them with WinX to "HD AVC" files using all-default settings and enabling the "Use High Quality Engine" check box.

I just tested a few of my video files again, and it seems to happen pretty much exactly at 25:20 minutes: that's when the video continues to play but the sound stops. Shorter video files are not affected.

Thanks!

Version 1.20 fixed this issue on my GTX260. However, the same video files are now no longer GPU accelerated on my notebook with the Radeon 3410 GPU, where the acceleration is required to make the videos even playable.

Thank you for your excellent work on this media player!

Hello ajsenf,

Have you done any graphics card driver updates lately (on the notebook)?

Thanks for the info.
Best regards.

Ah, I hadn't done any updates recently, as ATI doesn't provide updates for the Mobility Radeon cards directly. But I just got the latest driver version from HP (Catalyst 9.7) and installed it - this enabled GPU acceleration again. It now works perfectly on my notebook and on my desktop.

Thank you!
