Junp Interval

Sun Apr 10, 2011 5:45 am

I strongly suggest Mirillis to improve the jump interval function in Splash Pro, sometimes I really got pissed because when I press the button, it just doesn't work, the screen did change but actually it is the same spot of the time when I press it, e.g: I set the jump interval as 5s, then I press the left arrow when it is 11:08, then it is supposed to jump to 11;03, but after I press it, it remains at 11:08, and I have to press twice, then it would jump to 11:01, it just doesn't make sense. Therefore, I really hope that Mirillis will fix this problem in the next update, Thanks a lot!!

Hi, thanks for a feedback.
Splash PRO jumps to the nearest key frame as this provides the best performance. When there are big gaps between key frames in video file then it will result in what you describe. We consider some improvement for future versions but it will not be available for all file types.
What are the file types when you experience a problem (mkv, m2ts, mp4)?

It should be possible to make improvements in this file types.
However the improvement will be that it will go directly to 11:01 without need to press arrow twice.
We do not plan to make precise jumping in the nearest futre as it could result in very low performance for some files.

Thanks for the reply first, I just did a little test about this function in .mkv files and I realized something which is that rather than saying it is a bug or something, I found out that this function would remember where I pressed the arrow, then it would jump to the point where I pressed the arrow at the first time. When I tried it, I started at 11:06, and I set it as 10s per jump, then I pressed the left arrow, it jumped to 10:58, then if I press the left arrow at 10:59, it would go back to 10:58. Also, if I press the left arrow between 10:58 to 11:06, it will only go back to 10:58 which is the first jump point, then I pressed left arrow twice at 10:58 which actually is what I memtioned before, I had to press it twice in order to go back further, otherwise, if I just press it once at a time, it would only keep jumping back to 10:58, so I pressed twice at 10:58, then I got to 10:48. This function always pissed me off when I am trying to watch my videos, maybe due to I had been using Powerdvd for a while, I think their jump interval is really good, every time I press the button, it will exactly jump 5s, no matter where I am, I pressed it, it would be 5s backward. I know it is not easy to fix every problem that each customer has, and I really don't want to compare this product to PowerDVD, because Cyberlink is quite mature in this area, and Splash is still a new product. However, I really like this product, especially the Motion2, it is really really good and it is way way better than every other player I have ever used.
