Very long opens heavy files in mkv (blu-ray remux)

Wed Jul 06, 2011 8:40 pm

At opening of the big and heavy files in mkv (blu-ray remux) the player very long opens them (till 2-4 minutes) - that it does at this time and whether it is impossible to reduce this time?

Almost all of my collection is composed of blu-ray rips, some reaching into 50 gb. None take more than a few seconds to open. What sort of hardware do you have? Low speed processor or defective hard drive perhaps? Also, how much ram do you have?

At me 4-core Intel 2500K. Ati Radeon 5750. How much it is a lot of at you 50GB blu-ray remux's? Not on any big files it is shown. Somewhere at once it is started, and somewhere it is necessary to wait till 5 minutes! I know precisely that it is connected with video. All MPEG2 ' mkv ' files are started at once. Some H.264/VC1 ' mkv ' files are started at once, some in a few minutes! At you what video card?

Your hardware is far more than sufficient. The 5750 isn't a super high end gaming card, but more than adequate for playing back hd footage. Splash is quite light. I would recommend enabling and disabling video acceleration. Probably won't resolve the issue, but its worth a shot. Also update to the latest catalyst control center. Finally, try re ripping the file and putting it on a different drive. VC-1 is a poorly written codec in my opinion, however, that a lot of programs have difficulty handling.

Do you experience this problem with all mkv files from different sources
or this is a problem with mkv files from one source?
It looks like there is something wrong with files and it causes a problem to Splash.

We have tested a bunch of big mkvs in our lab and all open very fast.
