I know, but you dont have to worry. Right click on Userchoice in the left panel, select Permissions (or similar in english) and under the Special button you can see a Denied row for the System. Delete this row and you can edit (or delete) the userchoice settings.

See the picture below, sorry I havent got english version, but maybe you will recognize all what I said on my poor english. :)

It is no problem, you can't delete the default key. Just delete UserChoice key with right click on it and choose Delete. Thats all.

Joco1114 - I did this - problem remains .
An interesting thing - if I will right-click on an .avi file and under Properties change it any other player ( GOM , VLC , KMP ) and then double-click on the .avi file - it plays as it should . Only if i set it to Splash Pro , it'll bring up Spash Pro - but it won't start playing the .avi file . Has someone else tried this - and it works ?

Hm. Last idea, but now I am not sure if it's working:

Find and delete this keys and its subkeys (make backup if you worry):

Code: Select all

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.avi]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AVI]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AVIFile]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.avi]
After than right click and associate AVI extension to SplashPro.

Maybe it will work, but I am carefully now. :)

Joco1114 - thanks my friend - however , if you aren't sure it'll work - then I'm not going to try it . This is the first time I ever edited the Registry - not my sort of thing .
As to what I asked - if you associate .avi with Splash - so it starts when you double-click on it ?
In my opinion - if it works with all other players , and just not Spash , then appears to be a Splash problem .

Hi,

If you experience problems running some file types (ie. wmv, avi, mp3) with Splash PRO using file assocciations please check the solution below.

It seems that there is some problem with Windows Installer and it adds a problematic entry to Windows registry.
We are still investigating this problem. The solution is to remove this entry, please follow one of instructions below:

1) Automatic removal with a script.
- Download a script from:
- Unzip it and run.

2) Manual removal.
- run regedit
- open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\SplashPro.exe\shell\open\command
- there should be only "(Default)"
- delete multistring (Type: REG_MULTI_SZ) "command" value if it exists.

Thanks Ghost . I tried the automatic script , and then manually checked the entry - looks OK - screen capture attached .
However problem still there for those types ( not .mkv or .m2ts ) .
As long as Mirillis is working on it - OK .

Hi, your registry entry is wrong.
You have:
"C:\Program Files\Mirillis\Splash PRO\SplashPro.exe"
And it should be:
"C:\Program Files\Mirillis\Splash PRO\SplashPro.exe" "%1"

It should fix your problems :)
