UK DVB-T subtitles not recognised?

Mon Jul 25, 2011 6:57 pm

Hi,
I'm currently trialling your excellent Splash Pro Ex. I'm posting it here because I don't think it releates to any of the Ex features.

The recordings I'm viewing are MPEG2 .ts files made by the Humax PVR-9300T (SD) and HDR-Fox T2 (HD) STBs from the UK DVB-T Freeview.

Splash Pro does not seem to recognise the presence of the subtitles stream within the .ts wrapper, as the subtitles menu item on right click is greyed-out. The subtitles stream is definately present and can be displayed by VLC from the same file.

I have any number of examples of ~1Gb size, which I could FTP up for investigation if necessary (please provide relevant instructions).

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

OK, very reasonable response from the Developers by email:
"At the moment internal subtitles in TS files are not supported yet.
We plan to add support for this in the future versions but there is not release date defined yet for this feature.

Is it possible to share a short sample file, this would help us to test this functionality when we will develop it."

Yes, it is, and I would be :D to do so via your FTP server.

DVB format subtitles in ts file

Wed Dec 04, 2019 10:10 am

I am using Splash-free to view a ts format file copied from a Humax PV9300T video recorder. This stream has DVB format subtitles but Splash does not recognise them.

I have found an almost identical question asked in 2011, when the author was told that the team was planning to add this feature in the future

viewtopic.php?t=2196

Eight years later, is this feature still waiting to be added or has it been added, but only in the PRO version?
