I know.
But I want to use it to watch many formats of media file.
Just a very simple reason.
"I'm bored with using many kinds of player."
I would not consider splash as my player if it can't play rmvb.
Today I can use some external codecs that include HD decoder for other players.
Why do I choose splash?
Good performance for HD media is its superiority.
But "multimedia" would be close to what people need.
Thanks.

I have received a email from Mirillis.
"We consider using external codec for rmvb support but it will still need some development and we have very tight schedule right now."

I'm glad at the news.
Yes, that's my meaning.
You don't need to develop rm decoder for splash in the interim period.
Just let external codec support it.
Then you can maybe plan to develop a good performance of rm decoder in the future.
It's brutal.
I think many people often watch rm or rmvb files.
Splash will lose certain market if it can't play rmvb.
And mightily I wish it supports unicode.
It's better if many skins could be choosen.
Is splash compatible with windows x64?
I see that you said, "DVD playback will not be available in first release of Splash PRO yet."
Oh~ >_<""

I like zoom player.
Because it has strong direct show filters & splitters for audio/ video.
It can use ffdshow. That lets it play almost all formats of media.
But no its own decoder is its defect.
Splash is opposite to zoom player.
I appreciate splash has its own decoder for HD media.
Splash could block the filter of external codecs for HD media.
In fact, not only rm file......
I wish splash would open up some limit of its filter function.
Let it play other formats of media that mirillis doesn't develop its decoder yet recently via external codecs, like real alternative, elecard, mainconcept, cineplayer, powerdvd or windvd decoder.
I think it's effective.
We will be able to play rm, dvd...etc.
Many requests would be solved.
My ideal player is the synthesizer of splash and zoom player.

Will any version of Splash Pro have some editing capabilities, such as converting formats and bit-rates, trimming, splicing and adding transitions?

Maybe this player isn't for you, you may have unrealistic expectations from the developers......

These guys have made a fantastic 'free' HD player to begin with (of which you clearly like).

Just a thought

They are just suggestions.
I think it's not better for splash with restriction.
Which one is a top priority?
They have their plan to develop and have to add other functions in splash in the future.
It's not necessary of saying splash isn't suitable for you.

For me in person is the most important feature the smooth HD playback. MP, MPClassic, ffdshow/AviSynth are very hungry for hardware-reccources. Even my Quadcore-HTPC is not up to play HD-material at 60 fps without stuttering on my Panasonic-Plasma. My hope ist, Splash PRO with GPU-support will do this. If so, the mirillis guys will become my all-time heroes! :-)

Capture frame is ready in PRO version. It captures frames in BMP format. (we plan to add more formats in the future).
We will release PRO version when we will finish all licensing formalities.
