Re: Splash PRO 1.12.0 & 1.12.1

I have checked many video files for this error, and I have found a dozen one... All of them had DTS soundtrack. While I was doing that, I got the message about the update, so I have installed 1.12.1 and tried it again. I can tell, that the problem seems to be solved with this new version, as none of my test files crashed any more. Thank you very much!

Action! Is a program that records video on the pc, similar to FRAPS. It uses its own proprietary alogirthms, and according to charts here is very light. In defense of mirillis, its a lucrative niche market that there really isn't any decent software for. With Modern Warfare 3, youtube tutorials etc., and everyone wanting to record video, its a growing market. That said, I think its agreed that we all want to see splash get some of the features mentioned before (subtitle improvement/vobsub, chapters on my end for example).

Hi,

I just installed 1.12.1, and got that mentioned crashes on a 1080p movie. My file details are below. Movie starts, and crash comes in a few seconds. I can see a few seconds of the movie. If I click some further location (does not matter how many minutes I pass) I got crash instantly.

As far as I tested, I can tell that no crashes on 720p movies.

Is the support for Splash PRO discontinued?
It was in it's infancy when I bought it in 2010 nov and no more updates after just a year?

The devs said that there will be an update Q2 this year, so no; it has not been discontinued.

EDIT: Actually I am not 100% sure that the update is coming Q2; I thought I read it somewhere. But they are definitely fixing up a couple of things soon-ish.

Problem - when playing H.264 video with big number of reference frames (e.g. 16) with h/w acceleration on Intel SB GPU's - video have artifacts. But without h/w acceleration - motion2 isn't working. And for lucky people with discrete nvidia GPU's - using them means higher power consumption.
The only decoder that doesn't have this problems - egur's QuickSync decoder. It's under BSD license, so, as I understand, it allows using it commercial programs...
It would be nice if Splash would use it too...
