SPDIF Audio

Fri Jun 25, 2010 2:46 pm

Hi, what does this option mean exactly?

If I connect my laptop with hdmi with my tv, and use a optical cable out to my audioset, will it then pass through a 5.1 DTS/DD signal?

Hello!

I have this speakers, Creative 5700Digital 5.1 compatible with DTS and Dolby Digital and it works perfectly. Sounds clear, cool and the most important, 0% cpu! ::)

Its connected by coaxial digital cable (75omhs) and i checked with optical cable, with the same result.

Good luck ;)

I had the same problem, resolved it by deleting HDMI digital output under Windows sound options (control panel). Splas was obviously confused with two digital outputs; HDMI and SPDIF. Since my AV receiver has no HDMI inputs (only SPDIF), I am using SPDIF output, so I deleted HDMI output.

Hi

I am using the Logitech Z5500 connected to my PC via Optical Cable from the Decoder! SPDIF passthrough plays the DTS or Dolby Digital audio signals from supported MKV's and shows DTS/Dolby on the screen of the decoder where as with this option disabled it uses only standard audio!

This is a great feature for me thanks alot Mirillis you have done me proud!!

Already purchased didnt even need the Trail!

Cheers

Hi,

First I wasn't able to get audio via SPDIF. I'm using SPDIF via external Soundblaster X-Fi Surround. After the tip from neograniceni I deactivated the Sondmax integrated card. I now get sound and my amplifier detects the stream as DTS, but is sounds choppy like a broken record. Works fine in Media Player Classic.

i'm about to buy the splash pro version thinking dts-ma will passthrough via hdmi without any problems. I'm mostly using mkv files.

will Splash Pro pass dtd-ma via hdmi? will it pass dts core via spdif if the former is not the case?

thanks

I just tried the Pro-trial for SPDIF-Passthru from my on-board Coax-Optical to a Denon Receiver.
As with every SPDIF-related program you have to enable the option "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" under Playback devices -> Properties -> Advanced.
This is sad as I hoped Splash would find a way to passthru SPDIF without having to enable this option but it seems to be a necessity under Windows 7.

When enabled, the passthrough of DTS from a MKV-Container works like a charm, thanks for that. But I dont think this is a "Pro"-feature. VLC is able to SPDIF-passthru too, although with less comfort...

I was not able to pass dts-ma through the hdmi connection on my ati 5670. It downconverts it to dts, and I did not see a setting to retain any HD audio tracks.
