SB Audigy & SPDIF

Tue Aug 03, 2010 9:44 pm

The SPDIF option is grayed out/unavailable on my system.

Splash PRO 1.1.0 is running on my Win7. I have a SB Audigy that I use as a SPDIF passthru to my 5.1 DD receiver. This audio configuration works with VLC, Boxee and XBMC but Splash PRO can't detect the digital/SPDIF interface on the Audigy.

Any thoughts/help?

The digital interface/SPDIF shows up on Win7 and accessible to other Media player but not Splash Pro.

Hi Rudy,

we don't have the sound card in our test lab, but we saw some devices that shows as HDMI while it has SPDIF connector and vice versa. Have you tried selecting HDMI?

Actually, I disabled the HDMI device in Win7 but didn't restart Splash Pro. That's why you see it there. My media PC has a separate HDMI interface on my video card but it's not connected to my DD receiver.

The SoundBlaster Audigy does have both an analog and digital outputs.

Hello All

Hoping I can contribute something to help Mirillis solve the no sound over SPDIF issue.

I have been running Splash Pro on Windows 7 with a SB Audigy and the SPDIF option does not work no matter what I do. Last week I had some issues with my operating system so I reverted back to Windows XP. Hey presto! SPDIF worked straight away!

So it seems there is some compatibility issue with Splash Pro and Win 7 as XP works a charm.

I really hope the Mirillis team can sort this out for the next release as I have since reinstalled Windows 7 and the sound through selecting 5.1 speakers is AWFUL compared to selecting SPDIF. The dialogue is 10 times clearer when I use SPDIF.

Please get SPDIF working on WIN 7.

Thanks

Tristan

Hmm..Tristan..did you try to install the Audigy XP driver in Win7 under XP compatibility mode?

Yes I did. Thanks for the advice though, I only tried it a couple of days ago after reading a similar post. I uninstalled the existing drivers, downloaded the drivers from the sb site and installed after ticking xp mode compatibility in properties. No luck. I think I might just roll back to XP as everything I have is backed up on external hds so it is a pretty quick process. Cheers!

I just noticed that SplashPro 1.2.0 is out. Did you test with 1.1.0 or 1.2.0?

Hi Rudy, tried on both. Just reverted back to XP. In the process I accidently deleted 2tb worth of hd mkvs :):) Happy camper, not!

Ouch! 2TB..Doesn't sound like fun...

Mirillis has a decent product....however not having the ability to do SPDIF pass-thru is deal breaker though. Perhaps it will be fixed later.

In the meantime, Ive started testing out a few player that has pretty good GPU acceleration support, great UI, works on Win7 with SPDIF thru support.
