WMV and UHD H.264 GPU acceleration - Not working

Fri Aug 27, 2010 6:02 am

Hello

You have the fastest video player I have ever tried with GPU acceleration enabled

My system is:

Win 7 x64 - Radeon 5750 - Catalyst 10.8

I don't have:

1) WMV acceleration - at all

2) UHD H.264 (4096 x 2304) acceleration - at all

ATI and you have declared H.264 Level 5.1 support, up to 4K

It doesn't seem to work as WMV too.

Sample here:

You CAN or you CAN'T ?

With VLC when you enable GPU acceleration you get a nice Blue screen of death (BSOD).

VLC can not handle at all those files in GPU.

Only in CPU, but the point is the GPU (DXVA) acceleration

Understood.

So Nvidia cards try to play them in GPU, but they can't. Nice try!

We get BSOD

Playing this video file with VLC I only get a green screen. With Splash Pro nothing happens, with MPC-HC I get a BSOD, with Windows Media Player also a BSOD. Only BSPlayer plays this file without a significant problem. All this in Windows 7 64bit, with an ATI HD5770 and the latest Catalyst, 10.8.

You should have to try something:
I installed ffdshow_rev3529_20100811_clsid_x64.exe for my x64 Win7. After this I can play the file with MPC-HC and with PotPlayerx64 without any problem with sound and smooth video.

Dont forget to set MPC-HC to VMR9.

Thanks! I installed the 32bit version of ffdshow (I'm using the 32bit version of mpc-hc) and now it plays this clip with the vmr9 and the haali renderer. In both cases without dxva, enabling dxva (by using the EVR renderer) gives immediately a BSOD. PotPlayer plays also this file, using YUY2 (software mode, no dxva).

The real deal is, if someone can play it in DXVA mode (GPU accelerated).

With ATI or Nvidia and with any combination of codecs and players.

I'm waiting for your results
