What is YOUR main use for SplashPro

Sat Oct 23, 2010 10:31 am

I only became aware of the existence of SplashPRO an hour or so prior to publishing this topic. For my part, I was specifically looking for a media-player that would capture full-dimension (1920 x 1080) frames from my purchased Blu-ray discs. 'ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre' has lately proved unreliable for this task so I went to Google for advice and SplashPRO was a suggested option. D/l'd the 'Trial' and it captured the full HD frames without issue - and while an irritation, the fixed 'capture' destination folder isn't a major issue. I also like the uncluttered, uncomplicated SplashPRO interface and settings respectively.

I'd be interested to read the main use(s) that other users bought SplashPRO for i.e. SD? HD? web media, downloads, et al.

cheers.

Using it mainly to view 1,2GB mkv tvshows and HD movies (mkv/wmv) on my laptop.

I'm still craving for a BD-version so I will able to see my BSG BD box that I've bought! :)

most are mkv files of 720p from the internet (when playing on my laptop) and 1080p mkv's when using HDMI with my LCD TV.
Smaller videos come in wmv format. I never download any avi version because the quality suck.

Playing video with HW acceleration, that MPC-HC doesn't (like some mpeg-2 remuxes and 720p video from mobile phone o_O).
Also playing video from camcoder - playlist feature is really nice, much better than in MPC.

But because of not full support of styled subtitles I can't use it as the main player...
Desktop (Intel i7-970, ATI 5870, Windows 7 x64)
Acer Aspire TimelineX 3830TG (Intel i5-2410M, nVidia GT540M, Windows 7 x64)
PS Vita, Nokia N8

1. AVCHD Camcorders clips - best s/w for AVCHD clips.
2. Canon 1D mk4 clips.
2. Motion2 (5 or 6)+ LightBoost (1-3) + DetailBoost (3-8) for all HD movies - Blu-ray m2ts, mkvs, mp4s etc
