Is there any way I can get playback to start in full screen automatically? Gets somewhat tiring having to press ENTER every single time.

Same here! Is a simple feature... but very handy. Please add it (along with some other parameters -> closed after movie has been played). For good example look at the startup parameters of MPC.

In next udpate coming options:
- start playback in fullscreen
- start application in fullscreen
