Icsterm , thanks for that info .
Just interested , what CPU load are you getting for that type of movie ?
CoreAVC is the fastest CPU codec for MKV files. I'm not sure if Splash fails 5% beneath or use the same CPU resources.
- not sure what you mean here .

Lol, I have about 20% cpu usage on one of the worst processors - Atom N270 (one core, 1.6Ghz, worse than Celeron at same freq) when playing 1080p video.
So such cpu usage on about 20 times faster processor is expectible.
Desktop (Intel i7-970, ATI 5870, Windows 7 x64)
Acer Aspire TimelineX 3830TG (Intel i5-2410M, nVidia GT540M, Windows 7 x64)
PS Vita, Nokia N8

Depending on the Windows version, cpu model and graphics card vendors/models it can be even 0% shown in task manager for 1080p videos with Splash Lite/PRO. Here on some low cost NVIDIA and quad core cpu im having usually 0% (sometimes 1%) on a test 1080p mkv video. for 720p it is the same.

On the most PC configurations Splash Lite should be the most efficient free player available.

hmmm, maybe my hd 4770 (a low cost ATI card) is not as "efficient" as your low cost Nvidia card, :-).

i dunno, just click on it and it should expand. if not, i guess you are just going to have to take my word for it....moving on.

@insect0001:

i guess alot of the technology out there right now is Nvidia friendly, if gaming was my main concern i would def. go ati, however for 720/1080 mkv file playback or HTPC applications, Nvidia with CUDA is the way to go, seems to be supported in a lot of different areas. a cheap Nvidia card, I would suggest a 512mb card is the way to go.

I own a MSI 8400 512mb fanless PCI x16 card, been very happy with it.
