Nvidia PureVideo technology is the combination of a dedicated video processing core and software which decodes H.264, VC-1, WMV, and MPEG-2 videos with reduced CPU utilization.(I cut off this information from 6600 gt properties page.).

I believe that splash pro doesn't support my gpu.I look at Splash pro settings page.interestingly SPpro gives the followıng message "Hardware support nvidia pure video detected".But When I play any supported video (h.264,wmv,mpeg2).My cpu usage increase %90.But My gpu %10-20.I set up nvidia pure video decoder.İn this case cpu usage %30-40 and gpu usage %40-50.As a result splash pro doesn't support my hardware very well...I wish further support at this time.

have you tried disabling Motion2 and Detail and Light Boost? enabling these features will take a toll on your CPU since these are post-processing features and will use the CPU, not the GPU.

My friend! Yes I did.But result same! Splash pro doesn't turn on gpu support on my graphic card.
!!!!! Splash pro doesn't turn on gpu light on the left corner of program window.Look at left corner of your program. You can easily show your gpu indicator is light on.But my splash pro gpu indicator light off...

6600 GT doesn't fully support H.264 decoding. It lacks H.264 Decode Acceleration with IDCT and CAVLC/CABAC.

It also lacks VC-1/WMV Decode Acceleration with IDCT and MPEG-2 Inverse Telecine.

The mainstream and high-end of the GeForce 6 series was split between older products (6800 GT) which did not accelerate H.264/VC-1 at all, ___and newer products __(6600 GT)__ with added VC-1/H.264 offloading capability.____
6600 gt supports many acceleration properties.6800 and 6200 series doesn`t support vc1 and h.264 video acceleration.But I know 6600GT support vc1 and h.264 acceleration.
For example:MPEG2 scenario::I setupped nvidia pure video drivers. And I used windows media player. And I want to play 1080i mpeg2 content.Pure video scenario gives %30 cpu usage and %40 gpu usage. And on the pure video screen looks dxva 9 (idct) hw.When I was turn off nv pure video support. In this case pure video screen looks dxva 9 sw.And performans values are %90 cpu and %10 gpu and additionally some frame drops occurs.

VC1 (Test.wmv) 1080p scenario:Hardware accelerated windows media player gives %30-50 cpu usage and %40-45 gpu usage. And Video f'ile watchable no frame drops. But I used splash pro for this video, %90-100 cpu usage and %10-15 gpu usage looks. And many frame drops.not watchable smoothly.

I used WMV(vc1),MPEG2 and some h.264 files.Generally 1080p,1080i or 720p.All players perfectly plays 720p content. But A little bit player perfectly plays 1080i or 1080p content.Windows media player perfectly plays 1080p VC1 content on my machine.CoreAVC codec perfectly plays 1080p H.264 content on my machine with any player.Nvidia pure video decoders perfectly plays 1080p MPEG2 content on my machine. But splashpro fails at this point.I think that splash pro has limited support on old gpus. Not optimized for 6600gt series.

Finally performance values of real hardware acceleration:
MPEG2 1080i content (Nvidia pure video decoders+windows media player+6600gt) gives %30-40 cpu,%40-45 gpu usage...

VC1 1080p content: (Windows7+windows media player+6600gt) gives %30-50 cpu and %40-45 gpu usage...

H.264 1080p content:(CoreAVC decoders+windows media player+6600 gt) gives %70-80 cpu and %40-45 gpu usage.

Finally All this combinations provides better video waching experience.

In the Software players mode all players lacks.(For instance vlc player, mplayer)
