FLV support?

Fri Dec 17, 2010 1:14 am

Will Splash PRO support FLV files downloaded from the internet? (such as youtube)... Need a straight answer. Most players play FLV nowadays.

flv is really crappy internet quality. Why not just use any of those other players for flv?

Because there is such a thing as universal video player that can play almost all formats ;)
I guess, install in the system a few video players is very stupid. In the OS must be installed ONE video player that will playback all video formats!

So it better to support formats like 3gp/rmbv than improving motion2, making full support of styled subtitles (that are using really often with HQ videos) and so on?
Plus HD videos downloaded from youtube are mp4.

Do you think that mirillis has only 2-3 employees ? It's an entire team. They have time for everything as long as they don't hurry up with the updates and get 1 a month with a whole load of improvements.

I agree it would be nice, but I personally prefer to make Splash the perfect HD-player. So I would prefer BD support over flv and other lores formats. You can use VLC for that.

Install in the system a several video players? In my opinion, this is stupid and just clutter the OS. Video player should be universal and omnivorous! You do not install in the system several audio players or several image viewers, right? Then why video players should be several :?:  :?

When choosing: crappy player for everything or excellent player for HQ video (that are about 99.5% on computer) - my choice is second.
Now there are a lot of other things to do (full support of styled subtitles, motion2, export version and so on)...
P.s. flv is designed for streaming video - if you prefer to store such video - better remux it to mp4/mkv...
