How to get great digital audio from a laptop

I am about to receive a laptop which unfortunately does not have S/PDIF. I wish to run Splash Pro on the Geforce 210M with HDMI video on the no-speaker HDTV, and send digital 5.1 channel audio to the amplifier (through S/PDIF optical or coax). The laptop is a Sony Vaio VPC-CW17FX (Windows 7), but that should not matter.

I would like to know if any of you have a suggestion as to what hardware I should purchase. Perhaps you have used an external box that interfaces via Expresscard/34, USB, firewire, that you know works very well with Splash Pro?

Hi, we have not tested this solutions but we were reported by some users successfully using Splash PRO with USB soundcards with SPDIF. We always recommend to test this solutions before purchase if possible as there are many different factors that may result in different playback results.
