Ver.1.5.0 looks like motion2 downgrade !?!

Thu Feb 24, 2011 10:27 pm

Dear Sirs,

Why did you destroy fluidity of the motion2. You call that improvement???
Until ver. 1.4.1 it was great but now everything is blurred and looks awfully !!!
WHY,WHY,WHY ....???
Don't justify this move with need of “30% lower average CPU consumption”.
It was already very low.

Please!!! correct this in new version.

Sincerely Yours
Greg

*crawls from the shadows*

Motion2 looks very choppy now in animations (despicable me in 720P as an example)

but looks.... somewhat smoother in SD video (was watching batman 1989)

but generally I felt it was a downgrade.

I agree

now it looks like it does frame blending and it's very noticeable in CG videos

agreed. motion2 looks worse. iv ben using avisynth\mvtools for motion interpolation for years, and i have been following the progress of this player from the start.
i love the simplicity of it, the gui is awesome and motion2 looks better then any other player with built in motion interpolation i have tried.
other changes are great, but motion2 is definitely worse then the last version.

keep up the good work
but please fix motion2

I've tested a few videos (HD and SD as well as 24, 25 and 30p) and Motion2 (FRC) algorithm has been improved quite significantly. There's less image artifact (image brake-up/visible blocks) and the motion is smoother. The new algorithm seem to detect the scenes more accurately then before. Also, 25p support is greatly improved.

If you can, check your driver and 2D clock speed. The new ATI driver seem to have issues with video playback (I was forced to downgrade to 10.11). Certain NVIDIA cards also have some issues with 2D.

PS: I wonder if mirillis added motion blur to frames that aren't processed to aid smoother frame transition.

perhaps i spoke to soon, after more testing i can see that motion estimation is improved. and as stated above maybe some blur was added. not a big fan of blur, but after watching a while i get used to it.

looking forward to more improvments on motion2.
show us what this player can do ;)

yea, as I said, it looks much better in regular films, but in CG films, like despicable me, it's not up to snuff as the previous version.

*is enjoying whatever is left of the trial* :D
