My settings are not being saved by Action

Thus, I am unable to install it on an alternate disc. It keeps selecting the main drive even though I specifically asked for it to use my mechanical drive for recording. For each recording that I make, I need to go into the preferences and adjust these parameters. Does this seem typical, or is anything else happening?

It might be worth checking if there are any background processes or permissions issues that could be forcing it to default to the main drive.

Right click on the software icon → Run as Administrator → then change the settings and try to save again.
