Splash Pro in a virtual Machine

Sat Aug 27, 2011 11:07 am

You can run Splash Pro Ex in a virtual machine (vmware player 3.1.4)?

Windows XP SP3
VMware SVGA II (no hardware acceleration) (with 3D acceleration)
Pentium Core Duo 2.40 GHz
2 GB Ram

Here a 2 pictures:

Motion2 also enabled, but remains black when loading the video file
Install the K-Lite Mega Pack Code and still does not work. :?:

Hi, we have not tested Splash with virtual machine. There are probably some problem with graphics drivers.

You're wrong, I tried on a virtual machine with Windows 7 and works perfectly with a video card:

Windows 7
VMware SVGA 3D (With WDDM 1.0) (3D Acceleration enabled)
2 GB RAM
Pentium Core Duo 2.40 GHz

Is likely due to Windows XP that does not work only with Windows Vista and 7 if it works perfectly.

It still can be about graphics drivers. On XP Splash uses video overlay for video
rendering. On Windows Vista nd 7 it uses Mirillis renderer.

Mirillis Renderer? I thought it's using EVR. Any benefit or difference? :?

Splash does not use EVR. Our own renderer is more flexible and lets us combine hardware acceleration with Motion2 in example a lot easier and faster.
