Does Action! support separate audio tracks for mic and system sound?

Mon Jan 26, 2026 8:54 am

Hi everyone, I’m using Action! mainly for gameplay recording and I’m wondering if it’s possible to record my microphone audio and system/game sound as two separate audio tracks in a single video file, so I can edit them independently later. If this isn’t supported yet, is it something planned for future versions?

Hi, yes - Action! does support recording microphone and system/game audio as separate tracks, but you need to enable it in the settings first.

Go to Audio Settings and make sure the option for separate audio tracks (or multi-track recording) is turned on. Once enabled, your mic and system sound will be saved as different audio channels in the same video file, which you can edit independently in compatible editing software.

If you don’t see the option, make sure you’re using the latest version of Action!.

Yes, you can do this. Just enable separate audio tracks in Action!’s audio settings, and it will record your mic and game sound on different tracks in the same file so you can edit them independently later.

Yes, Action! does support this. You can record your microphone and system/game audio as separate tracks so they can be edited independently later.

In the Audio settings, there is an option called “Record microphone into separate audio track.” When enabled, your mic commentary will be saved on a different track from the system/game sound inside the same video file.

There are also a few recording modes available, for example:

Video + all audio in one track

Video with mic on a separate track

Video and audio in separate files (video, mic, system sound)

So if you enable the separate track option, most editors like Premiere, Vegas, or DaVinci Resolve should detect both tracks and let you adjust them independently during editing.

Just note: separate mic tracks may not be available while LIVE streaming mode is enabled.

Hope that helps!
