Caps as Microphone recording hotkey?

Fri Feb 22, 2013 12:45 am

Hi, and thanks for a great recording software!

I've ran into a small issue though. I would like to record my microphone only when pressing a button, which in my case is the Caps Lock button but it don't seem to work. This is how my hotkey settings look like.

As you can see on the image, it have successfully "saved" the button Caps as my Microphone recording button.
But when I either start just a simple Audio Recording or a Video Recording when I play some game, it still don't record any sound from my microphone.

I tried to set it to "Always record" instead of "Record on button down" and then it works flawlessly. Any ideas?

Best regards,
Flaxe

I just tested my Caps Lock button and it's working properly. Could you post screenshot from your Recording tab?

Strange. I've linked three screenshots below from different setting tabs, think it should be all of the ones that are in interest.

Video Recording settings
Audio Recording settings
Hotkey settings

I guess that your second screenshot explain it all. While you are playing your video in Action! player you will only hear one audio path at time. When you are using "Record microphone into separate audio track" you should know that "A" key change your active audio path in video playback.

Yeah, I know this.
But when I play the video with MPC (or any other player) it's all just totally silent when I change to the second audio track even if I have talked during the recording.
And when I put the video file in Vegas there are two audio tracks (one Sound and one Mic), but the Mic track is just totally "straight", you can't see any peaks or anything on it as you would've if something actually was recorded there.

Edit: Apparently it works now ;/ I did just restart my PC and now I can hear myself when playing the video, and also in Vegas it shows activity on the second audio track :) I have no good explanation for this because I didn't change anything.
