did you download the Green edition ?
from here :

I think that their licenses work by-the-license - so if your motherboard has a green license, only Virtu (Green) works.

Thank you very much!

I did not understand what you meant by "Green Edition" at first but I downloaded the software from your link and noticed it was an earlier version and when I ran it, it said "GREEN" on the title screen. It made sense then.

But it still wasn't "License Activated" and said I had only X days left....

This took me a long time to figure out, but I did solve it!

It turns out I had to update my BIOS, for my motherboard, the latest non-EFI BIOS. THEN it would recognize it as licensed, and I could finally add Action! to the Applications list and use it.

DOWNSIDE: It seems more stuttery now, and the feeling of "stutteryness" is back as well, it seems, stronger than ever. Is this due to the older Virtu version? I can't be sure. I'll have to reboot a few times, maybe switch versions to test it. This could take a bit longer...

I have a virtu mvp2 standard edition licence to give to anyone who would want it as my hardware is not supported

Now that VirtuMVP works, you should try version 2.1.224 again - the more up to date the driver is, the better i think.

When i tried VirtuMVP the first time, i installed an old version and my experience was the same as you, it didn't run very well. But then i installed 2.1.224 which worked much better. I think that MVP2 is even better - but i dont want to pay around 40$ for it

You could save it for later, until the day you buy a new computer with Core i5 / i7 Ivy Bridge or Haswell.

I have an Asus ux32vd (core i7 3517u)

But as it is written on the website (i hadn't read it well :( ) :

Supported CPUs
Intel Ivy Bridge (Core i3/i5/i7)
Intel Sandy Bridge (Core i3/i5/i7)
Supported graphics cards and display drivers
Nvidia cards GF/GTX 4xx/5xx/6xx series
AMD HD5xxx/HD6xxx/HD7xxx series
Supported graphic libraries
DirectX 9
DirectX 10/10.1
DirectX 11/11.1
Supported Operating Systems
Microsoft Windows® 7 OS 32-bit and 64-bit
Microsoft Windows® 8 OS 32-bit and 64-bit

I have a geforce gt 620m and it's not working with it. Seems you need a GTX GPU

I get stutter issues also.
This happens when I record at a lower FPS or resolution than what the game is running on.
e.g. I'm playing League of Legends at 1920x1080 60fps, then i record the game at 1280x720 30fps.
At this moment while recording, I encounter stuttering while in game.
But if I record at 1080 60fps, i don't get any stutters while in game.
Is this an issue with Action!'s scaling?
I'm trying to save on HDD space which is why i want to record at a lower resolution and framerate.

I tried all the versions again, even the newest 3.0.106 version, and none of them made a discernible difference. I guess the difference I perceived the first time was in going from the second-unused monitor trick to using VirtuMVP.

So I went back to the 1.x series and it doesn't have any fancy features I don't need and it doesn't force Aero off (tested that too, makes no difference) like 2.x does so I'm good with it.

On the plus side I was able to figure out how to overclock my GPU and now have it at a nearly 70% overclock and that seems to minimize the lag and rubberbanding enough. Some games are worse than others and Painkiller HD definitely looks rubbery but it works well enough and is playable.

I did some testing and strangely I have the opposite result - keep in mind I'm using QuickSync.

When I lower the resolution or FPS, it works better and I get less stutter/judder/rubberbanding. 720p 60fps is about the same as 1080p 30fps for me, and going down to 720p 30fps means I have almost no problem. I can handle 1080p 30fps well enough now since I overclocked my Intel graphics, but 1080p 60fps is still a bit much.

And it doesn't even seem to be the games - I get the same result even if I just record the desktop while playing a game (which is just a black screen).

Thanks!... but it turns out the different versions made no difference to me, so feel free to keep it for a future computer upgrade!

I'm using AVI format.
Sadly I cannot use Intel Quick Sync in my laptop.
The built in Intel GPU is invisible from my OS.
I can only choose between MP4 and AVI.
I tried that Virtu thing but it doesn't work on my laptop.
Says I don't have an Intel GPU that supports it.

The new AMD beta driver started fixing the frametime issue (aka microshuttering in CFX). Might want to give a shot with that driver.

While i'm thinking of it just to mention that on my laptop, i tried to record on a usb3.0 usb flash drive and it was stuttering. When i changed to record it on the SSD no stutter anymore. The usb flash drive was bottlenecking the rest.

It sounds weird to me as it can write @20mo/s
