I cant help Im sorry I just wanted to say I also found this too I just recorded a 15 minute long video only to find it didnt record any audio.

Yes btw I did have always record set for mic and yes I had separate track selected too. I also checked that all settings elsewhere where enabled if they had anything to do with the mic.
I have tried leaving it set to system default as well as choosing the mic and it doesnt fix it.

Could you post a screenshot of your audio settings tab?

Do you record into AVI or MP4?

Ok I uploaded screenshot of my audio settings, I am recording as AVI and if I uncheck the box record mic to seperate track it actually records the mic after all but not so if I check the box. The issue is still there in 1.14.1 also.

I however want seperate audio tracks for system sounds and my mic so that I can perhaps edit should I need to.

I tried with MP4 and its fine and while I can pull that into vegas, 480p is of little use to me so right now if I want to record my desktop and my mic I can have higher quality videos but at the cost of having to record my mic seperately then sync the two together myself.

What you need to know about recording into separate audio track is you only hear one audio track at time when you are playing back your video file. You can switch between active audio track with "A" hotkey in Action! player.

Separate audio track does not work with MP4.

This is what I do:

Make sure you record to AVI. As stated above you cannot record separate tracks in MP4.

I downloaded Dxtory for 1 purpose; to extract the 2nd audio track which contains your microphone audio.

Once you have installed Dxtory, you can now right-click any AVI file and select "Extract Audio Stream." This will create 2 brand new .WAV files for both tracks contained in the video recording.

Just insert the video and both tracks to your video editing program and line up. BAM.

It's that simple.

I tried to solve this by binding audio recording to the same key than video recording, so that pressing that key, I had my gameplay with system sounds in one file, and the mic in a different file, but Action didn't let me bind the same key for different actions. Maybe removing this limitation would be a good thing!

The issue I'm having is it just won't separate. No matter what I do, the audio from both the game and the microphone are smashed into the same file. This is a nightmare for syncing Let's Play style footage. One reason I bought Action was because I could record game/microphone into one file, put it in Adobe Premiere and line up my camera footage with the microphone audio and bang. Everything is perfectly synced up. Now I'm back to using Audacity to record my microphone and trying to line up facecam/mic with a game is just horrible.

I swear there is no perfect recording software. I just need:

- Separate audio tracks
- On-screen recording indicator
- Reasonable file sizes
- Doesn't arbitrarily not work with certain games

Yet I keep struggling.
