About FICV codec

Since Action! is now my primary recording soft, i started wondering what kind of codec the FICV is.

Is it a modified version based on MPEG-4 or h.264 (even though you use h.264 already for the .mp4) or something like that?

Or is it entirely your own that you came up with (unique)?

The second guess is right. FICV is entirely uniqure video codec created by Mirillis.
