Issue with export video & separate audio track

Wed Jan 22, 2014 12:31 am

I recorded all my videos in AVI format, and in the setting I selected the "Record microphone into separate audio track".

The problem I'm facing now, is that when I exported these videos, my microphone sound would disappear when they're converted into MP4 format.

I heard that separate audio track won't actually work with .mp4, but I cannot find any option to export the videos in any other format beside MP4.

I also cannot directly upload the AVI videos to youtube, where it says it's not supported. (seems like you are using your own encoding or something?)

So now I'm kinda stuck: if I exported the video into MP4, I lose the microphone sound; the AVI format gets to keep the sound, yet cannot be uploaded to Youtube.

In the end, after some testing, I had no choice but to de-select "Record microphone into separate audio track", so that after converting to MP4 the microphone sound would still be kept. However I'm not satisfied with this solution, since it will only affect the videos I record from now on, but the past videos that I was busy recording all day long are now stuck in an awkward place.

Is there any other way to fix this?

Video exporting feature does not mix audio tracks to one. You can select either you want the system sounds or microphone sound.

As for YouTube issue, Action AVI files are not supported due to FICV codec used in our files. YouTube simply does not support our codec.

So you're basically telling me there's no better solution? System sound or microphone sound, one of them is bound to disappear?

VirtualDubMod or AVIMuxGUI. It works for me.
