MP4 makes my videos choppy when I record in desktop mode

Fri Apr 25, 2014 12:35 pm

Whenever I record in either desktop mode or when I get into a ship in Star Citizen, the video starts to get really choppy and will only display one frame for several seconds while the audio is still flawless.

I didn't have this issue untill the latest update, so is it possible to revert back?

My system specs are:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570

GPU: Sapphire Dual-X Radeon R9 280X OC Edition

RAM: Corsair XMS3 8GB

OS: Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit

Not totally sure what the problem might be, but are you using the "MP4 (AMD APP)" or just plain "MP4" option? I also have a 280x and the AMD APP setting takes use the APP chip on our AMD graphics cards. Using that I get almost no performance hit, and the videos are flawless.

Have you tried new AMD drivers?

I've tried all drivers since 13.9 all the way up to 14.4 (current) and I still get some laggy videos.

It's happening less now, but it's still happening
