Can't pause MP4 videos?

Hi again everyone! I was playing a couple of rounds of Left 4 Dead 2 versus alone just for time spending. I was recording the whole session with Quick Sync because i wanted to capture any randomness that might occur while keeping the file reasonably small.

However, i noticed that i was unable to pause the recording while it switched sides or chapter. I thought it's just a bug so i reinstalled Action. But no, it still didn't pause, i had my hotkey enabled so i started to get suspicious. Decided to try it with AVI format. AVI recording did pause, i tried it again with Quick Sync, can't pause.

What's the deal here? Why can't i pause during MP4 format? Is it because of recording method (hardware acceleration)?
