Action Problems?

Thu May 15, 2014 2:06 pm

Hello... i was recording using the 1.18 version of Mirillis Action but my voice sounded robotic and sometimes skip a part of the playback video... it was making me upset... so i downgraded and got 1.16.1.0, Fairly enough, my voice did not get robotic. But there was a time where it skip a part of a video, kinda like its removing the part where i usually lag while playing... i havent got to do video tutorials and gameplays ever since.... i really belive in this program, i dont use any other recorders because it fills up my disk space soo fast... i already used recording programs in the past and my videos werent good... The first time i tried this (using 1.11version.. ) it was perfect.... Please help me...

(not part of the Mirillis staff, just my umble opinion)

I'm wondering if you have a low-end computer... I tried recording on 2 separate microphones, in MP4 and in AVI format, and they all sound nice (with version 1.19.1). The robot effect would come from a slowing of a hard drive, a hardware slowdown of some sort. I don't think it has anything to do with Action! per say.

That being said, if you record in MP4, the sound is recorded in AAC (by default) and if you record in AVI, the sound is recorded in ram pcm (no compression). *Maybe* aac could distort the sound, but... that's a pretty efficient codec, perfect for the voice. Again, you would have to have a major slowdown or a very very old computer to get that kind of distortion.

My two cents.

(I want to help but can't really... try another microphone? Try recording in AVI? I don't know...)

Could you post a DxDiag report of your PC?

Okay, maybe I have a low-end computer by today's standards, but I think I have at least the minimum required here, yet I'm having all sorts of problems.

GTA San Andreas with ENB just crashes when trying to use Action! That's okay, ENB runs like crap on my setup anyway, so I disabled it. Problem solved. Sort of. Action! still crashes GTA SA when coming out of certain buildings, like the Cluck'n Bell. So that's making Action less than useful with that game...

But the problem I can't quite get is Shadow Warrior. Half the time when I record (and I *am* using AMD APP) it skips a LOT of frames, making the video corrupt and unseekable. But sometimes, it works fine. This is in the Action! Player, as well as other players. It can't even keep up with 24fps most of the time.

Don't tell me to upgrade my computer. Especially not with a snotty attitude. I will tell you where to go (and get banned for it).

But at this rate, I don't even want to register it because it would be a waste of money I don't have. FIX YOUR CODE and maybe I'd buy it. As it stands now, it's a frustrating toy rather than a useful tool.

Here's a link to a video showing what's going on. It's just sort of an occasionally animated slideshow, with sound dropouts.

I just asked for a DxDiag report :? because your video seems like a performance issue and after looking into your system spec I may be able to recommend recording settings...

Sorry for the premature attitude. After looking into things on the net with Shadow Warrior, it seems that my system just barely meets specifications, at least on the processor front. The GPU is okay, but maybe I could stand to have a quad-core in there for THAT game. Anyway, I've tried it at 24fps (the slowest I believe to be fluid), and while it works sometimes, sometimes it just loses it completely and either takes a while to recover (losing sound sync and video going completely berserk on the recording - and you don't know it until AFTER you check the file). Maybe Shadow Warrior 2013 is just one of those games that I'll need to upgrade my gear for. I guess I was just naively expecting the video card's dedicated h.264's hardware to be able to cope with encoding what I was seeing on the screen in realtime - that certainly is the idea I came away with when reading about your program. Anyway, I'll get ya that DXDIAG report... ummm. OK, how do I do that because I can't attach a TXT file? It's long and boring... what do you want to know?
