Mirillis "Game Record" Overlay doesnt Show

Thu May 29, 2014 1:54 pm

Hello,

why does in many old games the Games Overlay doesnt work?

I like to record some old games (created with the rpg maker for example) but can have any option to record it.

The overlay doesnt show...

The games need to run under DX8 or higher or under OpenGL

Is there no possibility to change that so I can record other games ?

Can't you just use 'Active Screen' mode rather than 'Games and Applications' to record these older games?

It doesn't matter, if the games are not under at least DX8 OR OpenGL, then it's no use. However, u could try putting it to windowed-mode and and record in region-mode.

Then why can I record Thief when its set to run using Mantle using Active Screen? It needs to be set to window or bordeless windowed (rather than fullscreen) but it still records using 'Active Screen'.

Then i have no idea. Mirillis hasn't said anything relating to Mantle hook.

That's because its not a Mantle hook. 'Active Screen' is the same as the old 'Desktop recording' mode (or whatever it was called). It SHOULD record anything... even things that are not OpenGL or DirectX (as long as its not in exclusive full screen)

The topic isn't about mantle. It's about being able to record games that are not OpenGL or d3d.
I was just saying that action is capable of recording if you select 'active screen' and run the game in windowed mode (if you select exclusive full screen you will only get black).

But on the topic of mantle, active screen works well, and crossfire even works in windowed mode so for now action is decent for recording mantle.
