Action! AVI > MP4 Lag - Voice audio suttering and scrabbled.

Thu Jun 26, 2014 9:34 pm

Hi All,

I have purchased Action and I find its a great bit of software.

I have a few problems though which are quite annoying.

I play Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Action obviously records it to an AVI file. I record at 1080 HD. Just to note, the FPS counter from Action when in game, and it says DX9 meaning that its recording it in direct x 9...

When I watch the video back the video is smooth with no visual suttering but for some reason my voice over is scrabbling and stuttering?

I then export the video from an AVI to an MP4 using Actions exporter. I export to a 1080p high profile and the quality for export is also set to high.

When I watch the MP4 back I notice a major lag on the video? Here is the link to the video to demonstrate all of this:

I also record Arma 3 with the exact same settings and export options and its absolutely fine however Arma 3 is DX11. Could this have something to do with it the fact FSX is DX9?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards.

The audio glitches sounds like performance issue. Do you record into the same hard drive where your game is installed? Could you please create a test video and record to 360p and see if the same issue occurs?

Hi,

Yes I have my game installed to my hardrive (c drive) and I also have my Action! recording to the c drive so yes, I am recording to the drive in which my game is on.

I just tried a test video with exactly the same settings and recorded it in 360p instead (to my c drive). The audio from my mic seems absolutely fine with no problems at all.

Should I try to record 1080p videos to my external hardrive?

I have tried recording my videos in 1080 high profile to my external hardrive and the sound problem is still there slightly but not as much. However I export my video to MP4 on the same external drive and I get the same lag again.
