Low Microphone Volume On Playback

I'm still in my trial period for Action! so I'd like to find out if there is a good solution to this problem prior to purchase. Overall, I'm very satisfied excluding the subject item.

On playback, microphone audio is so low I'm having to max out my speaker output to hear my own commentary. Even then, it's still low. I've got the balance in Action setting to "System Sounds: 4 / Microphone: 96" and this still hasn't helped. I'm using a Logitech G230 which has not presented any problems in Skype or other playback settings.

I've noticed many issues with microphone audio (being low that is) throughout the forums but I haven't seen a viable solution. In some cases, I've seen it is the headset or mic itself being the problem - and while that could be the case here I would like to verify prior to purchase.

I can post screenshots of current settings, DxDiag report, or links to videos if required.

I do on my Web Cam. I've tested this with the same result.
