ACTION! not fully capturing recordings

Sat Oct 11, 2014 5:34 pm

This may have been stated before, but this program is not fully capturing the video all the time. I just recorded a video that was thirteen (13) minutes long and when I stop capture it shows the video as 1.3 minutes long...what happened to the rest of the video?

This is not an isolated incident, it is a short list of items that are going pretty badly.
  • Video not fully capturing
Audio dropping halfway in the video
    Garbled audio
    Missing clips
    Missing complete videos
In ACTION! I have the following settings:
  • Recording:
    Video Quality - High
    Bitrate(MP4): 100%
    Use Multicore Recording
    Webcam
    Logitech HD Webcam 270
    Audio
    Mic: Blue Snowball (USB Mic)
Audio Device: Speakers (4-SB Recon3D PCIe)
    Bit Rate: 192 kbps
My system specs are not terrible
  • CPU: AMD FX 4170 Quad Core
    GOU: GeForce GTX 650 Ti
    RAM: Geil DDR3 16G
    Sound: SB Recon3D PCIe
    Webcam Logitech HD C270
I ran into no issues with Frap or Bandicam. Twitch 90% of the time was fantastic. I had hoped to use this software to save me time but lately it is eating more time re-recording videos and fixing or cutting garbled audio from videos. I jumped at the chance to spend 50 bucks on this, starting to feel like it may not have been a great idea. What can I provide, system specs, logs or whatever to assist in getting this corrected? Action! is a fantastic idea, but it needs some polish.

So it's not only the AMD App MP4 that is glitchy...

Stay away from 60 FPS while using the MP4. That has been my problem and I previously thought that it was AMD App only.

Does your videos end up like this: http://youtu.be/l-9ta0eDrls ?

Nah, I wish it was, I did a 30 minute recording and it captured 6 seconds and quit. The audio it did capture was garbled. I am using pretty much the same settings as Shadowplay and yet having less than decent results. Hopefully this software can get fixed soon, I am losing my patience with it.

It's a mix for me too. Mostly it's about the same as the example video, I chose it because it's the most normal error and I'm pretty sure it's the same reason.

I'd recommend using AVI on Action!, or just jump to Shadowplay for the times you really want to capture the gameplay.

Use AVI on Action! if you got a ton of space on your harddrive (don't worry, still not even close to FRAP's size) because the quality of it is just outstanding!

I goofed on the settings...long story...

Well, I just realized how much reading comprehension is required, I totally did not read the warnings in the program. I had an incorrect setting for Perfect Match set and guess what it said, "Don't Use This for Game Recording" so....I turned that off and it's been good again, mostly (so far) with MP4.

I still get some audio corruptions, odd since I use a USB mic (Blue Snowball) and it is a fantastic mic.

So I have been able to record again with MP4 and with AVI.
I wouldn't mind AVI but the webcam does not work with AVI set and I use facecam because I like to horrify people with my mug when I do game plays.

Note to self, do not set the Perfect Match settings for game recordings.
Perhaps Mirillis can provide a separate video recording for AVI for facecams without the merge of the both...would be awesome
