How to maximise performance?

Thu Oct 16, 2014 7:57 pm

I was wondering if someone could share some tips on which settings to maximise performance?

Im trying to capture with voice over Heroes of the storm, I dont have the greatest of PCs however its more than enough to run the game at 60+ fps in ultra settings.

Right now I have my capture set to 720p/30fps which is probly fine for youtube, when I hit record the fps stays around 22-24, Ive been playing with my ingame settings and I've noticed they make very little if any difference. I can set everything to ultra or set everything to medium and I still get the same fps.

Im running a duo 3.0ghz with a 6870 on win7.

Is my proccessor just too ancient? Perhaps my HDD cant keep up? Are there some settings within Action that could help me out?

Thank you.

What's your CPU usage during recordings? Do you record in MP4 or AVI format?

Heroes of the Storm is VERY CPU heavy and pretty un-optimized at the moment (Its still in ALPHA remember).
I drop close to 30fps when trying to record it (regardless of recording method).

As a side note: Raptr GVR only drops about 5-10fps MAX while recording. This means part of the issue is caused by the way Action! records the video.

Its probably because one of my cores is sitting at clost to 100% wile playing.

Just off the top of my head you could go into the "Task Manager" and set the "Processor affinity" to only use specific cores (pick one or two that have very little usage while playing Heroes).
No idea if it will work or not, its just a thought.

Another idea would be to play the game as normal then use the "Replay" function to record the game you just played. Sure it would take twice the amount of time but you wont have to worry about frame drops effecting your game play.
