Recording Quake 2 gameplay

Sun Jan 25, 2015 1:59 pm

Hello,

I recently bought Action and it works really well for recording desktop apps and all modern games I tried so far. ;)

I made some Quake II maps a few years ago, and now I would like to record them. I tried it using Mirillis Action! and KMQuakeII, but the video turned out all black.

Has anybody recorded Quake2 using Action? If so, which Q2 engine and settings did you use?

I do not insist on recording in KMQuake2, any modern engine will do. But I do not want to record in 400x300 resolution, so it should be a modern engine.

From the KMQuake2 website, it seems that KMQuake2 uses OpenGL. My system settings are given below:

OS: Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit
Video Card: ATI Radeon 6800
Memory: 16 GB
Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080
Video Editor: none
Game Problem: Quake2, using the KMQuake2 engine from http://www.markshan.com/knightmare/
Video Type: AVI

In Action, I tried both game mode and active screen record mode.

Thanks in advance for your help,

I just wanted to report that I solved the issue by using the Q2Pro client and Action (in the game record mode). 8-)
