Lag when recording MC

I was recording fine until about a week ago. Nothing changed with my computer, but now my in-game and recording FPS goes down from 150+ to 22 as soon as I start to record.
I have an Intel Core i7-4720HQ Processor 2.6 GHz, running Windows 8.1, 64-bit, 16GB DDR3L RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX960M.
I upgraded today to 1.26.1 and that did not help.
ACTION is installed to my D drive.
Any ideas how to improve my recording experience? I can't record gameplay anymore.

Which version did you used previously?

I think it was the version just prior.
I just updated to 1.27. Still getting lag.
Any help would be appreciated.
