Action! 1.29 Will Not Export (App locks up)

Fri Nov 20, 2015 7:08 pm

OS: Windows 10 Professional 64-bit
Video Card: EVGA Titan X HC (x2 in SLI)
CPU brand and model: Intel Core i7 4960X
Memory: 32 GB
Monitor Resolution: 4096x2160
Video Editor: None
Game Problem: Any Game
Video Type: AVI

This has been a problem for me since before version 1.29.
To try and remedy this, today I did a clean install of Windows Professional 64-bit. (Not an upgrade) I am able to use Action! for taking screen shots and for recording video just fine, but anytime I try to export it, the application just locks up. I go through the settings for what type of Output Profile I want, (No matter what settings, Auto or manually selected) as soon as I click on "Start", the window says, "Exporting...", but the application freezes. No progress is indicated at all and the "Stop" button does not work. The only way to close it is to use Task Manager and End Task.
I am currently using the NVIDIA 359.00 drivers.

EDIT: Also, to clarify, I have tried recording video at 30fps and 60fps and the result is the same.

I have been doing more experimenting with Action! to see what else I can figure out about this problem.
If I try to record a video using File Format: MP4 (NVIDIA NVENC) or if I try to export a video with the Use hardware acceleration for video encoding check boxed on NVIDIA NVENC, the app just locks up and has to be killed with the Task Manager.

So, it looks like a compatibility problem with Action! and NVIDIA GPUs/Drivers.

Okay, I continued to dig more on this problem and it seems that Action! does not like SLI.

I disabled SLI in the NVIDIA Control Panel, loaded Action! and was able to export an AVI video using the hardware encoding with NVIDIA NVENC.

I also tried to create an entry for Action! in the NVIDIA Control Panel under the Manage 3D Settings so that the SLI rendering mode was set to "Single-GPU", but this did not work and Action! would once again lock up when trying to export a file using the NVIDIA NVENC hardware encoding.
