Hud not showing up or recording

So I've had Action for well over a year now. Small problems along the way, but nothing that would outright stop me dead in my tracks. This happened about two days ago. I believe a new update went out that might have caused it. So for the most part Action seems to be working just fine. The problem is my hud that usually shows up top right is no longer there. As such when I hit F9 to record nothing pops up. When I click F9 again I get a small file that lasts about 1 second. I've deleted the files in my registry, uninstalled and reinstalled, I check compatibility issues and dropped it to Win7, 8, and back to 10, I even rolled back 4 different versions while deleting it completely from the registry each time. I've also run as administrator. I've searched everywhere and it seems no one else has this problem.
After messing around with literally everything, I have the Games and Applications feature recording. However, I need to first go into Active Screen mode, click the application and select whatever I want to record, click on Games and Applications, close out the program and open it again. Then my hud shows up on the application only. Once I close the app out it goes away and I have to do the whole process all over again.

As a reminder, I've been using this for well over a year. I know all about the settings menu and how you can hide the hud. It is not hidden.

Update Action! to version 2.8.1 and see if that helps.
