Windows 10. Game. DirectX12 recording crahses

Tue Apr 07, 2026 9:45 am

I haven't updated my GPU more than a year because of any game that uses DirectX 12, starts crashing once you start recording when GPU(Nvidia) driver is higher than 572.60, or I use Action version that is higher than 4.44.0. I tried figuring out the right version for me to stay with latest GPU as possible, and I couldn't get anything to work except 572.60 and 4.44.0. That took 5 hours. Kind of ruined my weekend at the time. Any other version starts to either crash the game or make the recording really stutter. I even tried the "temporary fix" version of Action and that's actually the case where I ended up with stuttering video.
Sooner or later, the games I like will be released and I would have to install newer GPU driver. I hope I don't have to wait any longer than this when the time comes. I hope this issue is actually resolved in the near future.
I've been patient. I've been really patient for a long time. More than a year. So I think you would feel and when I say, "Please fix this issue".

It is a problem with NVidia drivers, but version 4.47.0 and higer should work for you.

I thought what we have so far is a workaround and not a fix. Am I mistaken? I remember trying the version with that as updated feature, and the recorded video was stuttering a lot. Also, while 4.44.0 does not stutter when you start recording but that newer version did. Which made me think that the updated one was very unstable to use. That's why I am reluctant to download and try newer version. It took hours to find this sweet spot with 4.44.0 Action and 572.60 Nvidia gpu driver. However, you are saying that this even newer or newest version should work fine? Then forgive me for being skeptic but why didn't the official patch note mention that this issue was resolved?

Pardon me for being skeptic — it's just that finding the sweetspot, 4.44.0 for Action and 572.60 for Nvidia GPU, took hours of my precious free time and I rather not go through that again if it means the recording won't work or the recorded video itself will stutter when being played to view — Again, pardon me, but I must confirm. Are you saying that if I were to install newest version of Action and Nvidia GPU driver, I would have no trouble recording DirectX12 games in Game mode? If so, how come this fix is not mentioned in any of the update patch notes?
