Exporting Requires C Drive Space?

Mon Jul 16, 2012 3:24 am

I have observed the need for C drive space in order to export videos.
Is it normal even when my export location is not C?

Hi,

During exporting process (before the final file is saved) Action! uses temporarly space in system "temp" directory.
It is usually located on disk c:, however if you need it is possible to move it to other drive.

I got this problem to.
How to move that "temp" directory to anotehr drive?
Or you colud add an option in action where you can set this pre saved "temp" folder for action, like you can set the export, screenshot, sound directory.

I agree, this option should be available in Action! settings. I am considering to buy 30-60GB SSD for system drive, so I'm OK with system Temps on it, but not with third-party software.

Temporal solution:
1) Clean up your current Temp folders. (Use CCleaner software if you don't know where it is hidden).
2) Create a new Temp folder on any drive/disk you like. For example: D:\Temp
3) Go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> ("Advanced" tab) -> Environment Variables
Image
4) Edit "Temp" and "Tmp" variables. (according to step 2)

This will change the location of your system "Temp" folders.

You will get software and system errors every time you are trying to open/run something. So removable drives are not an option for Temp folders. ;)

Is there a way to specify a secondary route for tmp/temp, if the firs one fails?
Will ccleaner know that my tmp/temp foulders are moved when cleaning with it?

Nope, you can't specify a secondary "Temp" folders. :(

And CCleaner reads the information about the location of your "Temp" folders from "Environment Variables".
