Currently I am a owner of Action! 1.9.0.

In the future when mirillis release 2.0.0 etc would I be entitled to updates for that too? i.e Can mirillis allow unlimited updates if it currently is not the case?

Looks like we will have to pay for an update when the 2.x.x version arrives.

From the FAQ :
How long is Action! license valid?
Action! license is not time limited.
Action! license also entitles for free updates within purchased product version. In example, when you purchase Action! 1.x.x version then you are entitled to receive free updates for all Action! 1.x.x versions. Upgrade to version 2.x.x or higher will be not free.
But how much will we have to pay ?

Action! is so useful to me and my website, I know I'll pay for the update :)

Oh dear, this is what I worried would happen. I have Dxtory & Fraps and they have unlimited updates for end users. If I knew mirillis had this up their sleeve I might have reconsidered before purchasing Action!. I thought (from previous experience) recording softwares like this would be a one off payment with unlimited updates. No wonder there are so many cracked versions of Action!

Hopefully mirillis can reconsider and change their update policy and allow unlimited updates for all future versions like other companies are offering.

p.s If the mirillis support is reading this and would like to grant me unlimited updates for all future releases plz PM me and I will forward you my CD Key to be unlocked:)

Note that mirillis uses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_v ... _sequences e.g. after 1.9.0 Splash Pro there was 1.10.0.

Because I only bought Action! not so long ago. How long before mirillis releases 2.x.x?

I really hope mirillis can reconsider and make it unlimited updates for one off payment buyers.

I didn't even read this when i bought it, surely after spending that much money on video recording software we should get ALL updates for free. i refuse to pay i will just go back to using free ones that give you updates for free like it should be.

Like Vivan noticed with Splash players, next major Action! update will be marked as 1.10.0 and so on, unless Action! is 100% done. Then we will find a way to make it better so we can mark it as 2.0.0. Until then you don't have to worry for any additional update charges.

Nevertheless, with all do respect, I would still like to express my unsatisfactory when I found out I would need to pay extra for version 2.x.x in the future.
I had in mind Action! would be a one off payment, no updates restrictions product.

After all it's just a recoding software. It's not Windows OS or Adobe Premiere Pro etc.

Please forward my wish to the relevant department to seriously consider waving the Action! "Terms and conditions of sale, Support and product updates, 7.4" and make Action!'s future updates unrestricted by product version. Or at least for me.

Thank you for your consideration.

In fairness to Mirillis:

a) they release frequent and significant updates to their software in a timely fashion

b) personally, I actually read the license agreement before I purchased the product, why didn't you?

c) the price for a 2 user license was very modest in comparison to even a single license for competitors like Fraps, and the support is far superior, especially over DXTORY. People inundate these forums on a daily basis (sometimes with extremely naive ideas and questions) and receive nearly unlimited free support from the team. I would be happy to pay and support a growing business that's working hard for their customers.
