A couple of suggestions (INVESTIGATING)

Hey everyone,

This software is simply fantastic. Loving it so far, but have a few suggestions:

1) Microphone recording. Action seems to record only from devices listed as "Microphones" in the Recording tab of Windows Audio Control Panel. I use an external USB audio interface, as I do a lot of music recording and the regular on-board audio is not suited for this. I have everything connected to this interface, from guitar to studio monitors and also my regular microphone. The problem is that Windows identify those inputs as line inputs, not microphones, and Action! seems to only work when I have a microphone device selected. If I set the line in as default (as I usually do), it doesn't record anything. If I plug it in my regular microphone jack and set that as default input, it works.
I got a workaround for this using Virtual Audio Cable to emulate a Mic input from my real line in, but this shouldn't be needed.

2) Uncompressed AVI output. I think this would be a useful feature, because I often record game footage that I would like to do some editing/compositing afterwards in Sony Vegas (or any editing software). Currently I only have the option to export to a compressed lossy format, which is not ideal for editing, since I would be working with degraded video quality that will be degraded even more after I export from my editing software for publishing (using another lossy compression algorithm).

Hi and thank you for a feedback.


1) We will investigate this and will try to reproduce problem.
Thank you for sharing workaround.

2) We plan to improve this by adding directshow filter so every 3rd party software should be ready to decode raw FIC files or we will add export to uncompressed avi. We expect it to be available for Action! 1.2.0, however it may change and we will keep you informed.

Hi

I too have problem recording my own voice with usb mic. All I get is digital noise when I speak. It doesn't matter if I try to record my voice on a desktop or while in game using Teamspeak. I believe the problem occurs with digital mics beacause my friend who is using analog mic connected to his soundcard has no problems at all. This is the mic I'm using.

I wish you could solve this asap.

hi!

Have you found anything to fix this microphone problem. New 1.3.0 version didn't fix this. USB mics don't work with Action.

Have you tested any other USB mics on your PC?
We have tested several different all working fine here.
We suspect that theres something about mic setup. Can you please contact us by e-mail so we can investigate problem (our support will ask you probably for some screenshots etc)?
