Let's say you are recording a long gameplay for like 3 hours. Within the 3 hours you made six amazing headshots that you would like to make a compilation of. Too bad you didn't remember when you did those headshots. With bookmarking feature you can easily press Ctrl + B (default hotkey) and Action! will create a txt file with exact time of when you press the Ctrl + B. Now you know exactly when you did your headshots and you don't have to seek through your whole video. You just go to the exact time. The txt file has the same name as your video file.
Ok thanks, I did not check my video folder when I tried it so I did not see the text files.
At first I thought it was like a "split video" feature, so when you press the button, it ends the current video and start a new one right away.
I don't record long videos because if the game crashes (ok that's rare but I don't want to take any risk) the video is broken and unusable.
And when I make gameplay videos showing the first minutes of a game for my website, if the game crashes I have to restart the recording from the start.
So when I get checkpoints or loadings, I usually press the record button twice to stop the record and record a new video.
Maybe this can be a new feature ? A single press on a button to stop/start a new video right away.
Also, do you plan to add a continuous recording mode like Fraps ?
This mode only records the last 30 seconds (or whatever you set) in a temp file, and when you press the record button again it commits the 30 seconds recorded and continues to record what is happening on screen.
This way you can have a video with the last 30 seconds and what's next, without having huge files taking place on the hard drive and wihtout useless gameplay you did not really wanted to record.
It's a bit like the bookmark feature, except it takes less disk space, but needs more development.
Can't wait to see how Action! evolves, it's now my primary record app for the videos of my website
